Smart, Chadwick, and Cordrey Help Keep Volleyball Unbeaten in NJAC Play in a 3-1 Win Over Stockton

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Jessica Smart put down a career-high 21 kills while Abby Chadwick and Hutton Cordrey each added 17 as Rowan defeated Stockton, 3-1 (25-21, 29-31, 25-21, 25-18), before a packed Esby Gym Tuesday night in a NJAC matchup.

The contest also served as the team's Dig Pink night, where the team (and fans) wore pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Profs (17-2, 4-0 NJAC), now winners of 15 in a row, produced its best hitting line of the season so far, putting up a .364 attack (64-16-132) led by Smart who racked up a season high. Seven of her kills were recorded in the first set as Rowan manufactured an offense that went a blistering 17-1-31 (.516).

Stockton rallied from a 29-28 score in the second with three points in a row to help even things out at a set apiece. The third set was just as close as the second, as neither team led by more than five points. Tied at 21-21, Rowan rattled off the next four points capped with a block from Chadwick and Ava Best to put the home team ahead, 2-1.

In the fourth, Smart, Chadwick, and Cordrey combined for 15 of the 17 kills in the set while the Profs used a 6-0 run to go up 21-14 and help cement the outcome, keeping the team unbeaten in NJAC play.

Nicole Palmer and Jalynn Grant each had 11 kills for the Ospreys (12-5, 2-2 NJAC).

On Saturday, the Profs welcome Brooklyn and Salisbury for a tri-match on Senior Day. Prior to the 11 a.m. match with Brooklyn, the team will honor its seniors with a special ceremony. The Bulldogs will then take on the Sea Gulls at 1 p.m. before Rowan and Salisbury clash at 3 p.m.
