Women's Soccer Battles Elements in 4-0 Win over St. Mary's in Salisbury Classic

SALISBURY, MD -- Goals from Olivia Giordano, Sara Wiedeman, Bella Moore, and Sophia Saladino helped Rowan pave through the rain in a 4-0 win over St. Mary's Sunday afternoon at the Salisbury Classic.

Wiedeman netted her third goal on the year to make it 1-0 in the 21st minute with Lianna SanFelice and Renata Cicala drawing the assists. Saladino scored her first collegiate tally just over ten minutes later picking up a failed clearing in the Seahawk box to give the Profs a two-goal lead heading into halftime.

Clark was able to redirect a cross into the box from Giordano and Cicala gave the Profs a 3-0 edge.

Giordano capped the scoring less than two minutes later as her shot just inside the box slightly caromed off a defender to skim just inside the left post.

Rowan keeper Leah Edinger and the Prof defense saw two shots on the day, with one official save. Kyleigh Bland recorded six stops in goal for the Seahawks, playing into the 82nd minute.

The home opener takes place this Wednesday, September 10th against Swarthmore at 7 p.m. where the contest is part of the "White Out" Soccer Doubleheader with the men's team taking on SUNY-Cortland earlier at 4 p.m. A double dose of Prof Soccer, the first 100 Rowan students at each game receive a FREE t-shirt.
