ASTON, PA -- Rowan picked up a pair of 3-0 wins on Saturday on the final day of the Knights Invitational hosted by Neumann as the Profs defeated Cedar Crest (25-10, 25-11, 25-11) and Ursinus (25-21, 25-17, 25-19).
Freshman
Jessica Smart kept a hot hand from Friday's action, totaling 23 kills and hitting .403 in the two matches to earn Most Valuable Player honors. Teammate
Raven Albrecht also was named to the all-tournament team.
Rowan 3, Cedar Crest 0
Smart racked up 12 kills as the Profs made quick work of the Falcons in the three-set sweep.
Evalyn Vires served up a career-best eight aces as part of Rowan's 20 in the match and
Hutton Cordrey added five digs, four kills, and four aces.

Smart (11),
Jena Kaul (10), and
Abby Chadwick (10) combined for 30 of the squad's 37 kills.
Rowan had to work through seven ties and five lead changes to claim the first set, where in the second, the team ran off a 15-5 spurt to go up 20-10 and go up two sets to none.
In the third, the Profs hit .455 with just one hitting error to help pull away from a 16-16 score in clinching the match.
The Profs will play at Muhlenberg on Tuesday at 7 p.m. before having its home opener next Saturday, September 13 in a tri-match with Catholic and Lebanon Valley here at Esbjornson Gymnasium.
