NEWARK, NJ -- #18 Rowan kicked off its New Jersey Athletic Conference opener with a 9-0 win at Rutgers-Newark on Saturday.
Bella Moore netted a natural hat trick,
Olivia Giordano scored twice, while
Lianna SanFelice and
Alexis Dzierzgowski each added a score and an assist as the Profs fired off 24 shots on the night to improve to 5-1 on the year.
Riley Fortna kicked in a personal-best two assists as well.
It was the most goals scored in a game since an 11-1 victory over Centenary in 2022.
Giordano's two goals gave the senior 101 career points for the senior, becoming the fifth player in program history to eclipse 100 points. Additionally, the victory was #350 for head coach
Scott Leacott, who now stands at 350-97-41 in his 26th season at the helm.
Elaina Corson and
Riayn DiMeo added goals to help Rowan build a 5-0 lead midway through the first half.
Goalies
Leah Edinger (two saves) and
Catie Paolini combined for the team's fifth shutout of the season. The Rutgers-Newark duo of Alisha Perez (five saves) and Shaina Sackett (four saves) split a half in net for the home team.
Rowan will play its fourth-straight road game on Wednesday when the Profs visit New Jersey City in NJAC action in a 4 p.m. start.
