GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rutgers-Newark edged #6 Rowan, 2-1, on Saturday in the NJAC opener for both teams.

The Scarlet Raiders netted both goals in a four-minute span midway through the second half on goals from Pablo Moreno and Ian Brown.

Davide Caputo put the Profs on the board in the 17th minute with his fourth goal of the season. Caputo took a cross in the box from Luke McNamee where his second shot off an initial save made it 1-0. Rowan outshot Rutgers-Newark, 10-3, in the first 45 minutes where they took a one-goal lead into the half.

In the 61st minute, Rowan was called for a foul in the box, giving the Scarlet Raiders a penalty kick. Moreno tied it at 1-1 as his attempt got by Prof keeper Travis Holliday. Brown put Rutgers-Newark ahead as he put in a rebound off a save in the 65th minute.
