Football Puts Up Nearly 500 Yards of Offense in 56-0 victory over Moravian for First Win on the Season

GLASSBORO, NJ – Nate Maiers passed for a career-high four touchdowns and Nunes Bukula IV had two touchdown receptions as Rowan shut out Moravian, 56-0, in action at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium today. It marks the Profs' first victory of the season, improving them to 1-0-1 on the year.

With the offense producing 496 yards on the day, the defense shined just as brightly, holding the Greyhounds to just 69 total yards.

Maiers completed 13-for-16 passes for 239 yards and Bukula caught two passes for a total of 73 yards and rushed eight times for 32 yards. Matt Welsey also threw a touchdown pass while Michael Zarfati, Shane Martin and Jackson Gallagher all had a touchdown reception each. Mordecai Ford and Tyshawn Bookman each rushed for a score. Josh Schumann ran a botched punt back 35 yards for a score to pace the defense.

The Profs dominated, rolling up 211 yards on the ground and 285 in the air. Rowan had eight scoring drives and six of them went for 71 yards or more. Bookman (121 yards) and Ford (100) both finished with over 100 yards. Zarfati had three grabs for 89 yards.

Anthony Henriquez and Amir Reason-Dallas totaled five tackles apiece with Xavier McBride making three stops and adding a sack. Rowan's defense made it a long day for Greyhound QB Declan McCarthy who was just 4-for-15 for 39 yards while the Moravian run game was held to 24 net yards on the ground.

The win marked the most points scored by Rowan at home since a 59-0 win over Southern Virginia on October 17, 2015, and was the first shutout at home since September 2, 2017, with a 6-0 win over Widener. It also marked the first time that Moravian went scoreless since 2022.

Martin's four-yard TD, Bookman's one-yard scoring plunge, and Schumann's return all happened in the final 6:20 of the first quarter for a 21-0 lead.

Bukula IV pulled in both of his receiving touchdowns in the second as the Profs took a commanding 35-0 lead at the half.

The Profs are off next weekend and will return to action on September 27th when the team heads to Lycoming for a noon kickoff.
