Davide Caputo had a goal and assist as Rowan held off #22 Franklin & Marshall, 2-1, in men's soccer action today, as the Profs improve to 2-0 on the year. Freshman
C.J. Norton made his first career start in goal and earned the victory.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
The Profs were holding a 1-0 lead when
Johnny Troiano sent a behind-the-back pass ahead to Caputo, who chipped in a shot over the head of Booth into the center of the net at 71:00 for the eventual gamewinner.
Franklin & Marshall (0-2) ended Norton's shutout bid when Jack Borden converted a penalty kick 41 seconds after Caputo's goal.
Rowan scored in the first half when junior transfer
Christian McGillen took a lead pass from Caputo on the left side and put the ball past F&M's Nolan Booth for his first goal as a Prof.
The Profs held an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal with Norton making three saves in the win.
Rowan returns to action on Friday, September 5 when they head to Gettysburg for a 7 p.m. match. The next home game is Wednesday, September 10 against Cortland with a 4 p.m. start. It will be a "White Out" with the first 100 Rowan students receiving a Profs' t-shirt.
