#13 Baseball Improves to 2-0 in NJAC Championship with 12-7 Win over TCNJ

Tournament will move from Montclair to campus sites due to this week's weather forecast

MONTCLAIR, NJ - Brayden Davis hit a two-run home run and Marco Mannino had three RBI to help propel #13 Rowan over TCNJ, 12-7, as the Profs remain unbeaten in the NJAC Championship, which was played at Montclair State.

Sunday's other two games were canceled due to the weather and because of the week's forecast, the double-elimination tournament will move to campus sites. Rowan (31-8) will visit Rutgers-Camden (Game #8) on Wednesday, May 7 at 3 p.m., in a winners bracket game, with Kean hosting TCNJ (Game #7) at the same time, with one of those teams facing elimination.  (See the revised schedule below)

Mannino went 3-for-6 with two doubles and three RBI, and Davis drove in three runs as well. Tyler Cannon was 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI, including a double and a triple, with Karson Harcourt driving in two runs.

Christian Rice (1-0) got his first win as a Prof in relief of Mike Shannon as Rice allowed one run and struck out five. Steven Maiers pitched 3.1 scoreless innings to earn his first save.

Rowan broke a 7-7 tie in the sixth as Davis hit his fifth homer of the year, and Karson Harcourt drove in one with a double to put the Profs ahead for good, 10-7. The Profs added two more in the ninth on a double by Mannino to put the game out of reach.

The Profs jumped out 2-0 in the first as Cannon led off with a triple and came home on a sacrifice fly by Phil Sedalis. Mannino doubled and also crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly from Davis. TCNJ (24-16-1) got one back in the bottom half of the first and Rowan added another on a single from Mannino. Up 3-2 in the third, Rowan scored three times, on a sacrifice fly by Eric Sabato and a two-run double from Cannon.
