NJAC TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
Lutz (18-0) struck out three and walked just one batter for her tenth shutout on the season. The senior outdueled reigning conference pitcher of the year Nerina Tramp, who limited the Profs to four hits, giving up two runs (one earned) with four K's.
Rowan (40-1) plated both of its runs in the bottom of the first, one coming off an error at short and another on a RBI single from
Breanna Bryant. With
Liz McCaffery and
McKenzie Melvin and second and third,
Payton MacNair's grounder to short was misplayed, allowing McCaffery to come home for the 1-0 lead. Two batters later, MacNair scored from third on Bryant's single up the middle.
Lutz, who did not allow a baserunner past second base for the contest, stranded an Osprey runner in both the third and fourth innings and got a key double play in the fifth.
Pairings for Tuesday's action will be finalized after Saturday's action. Rowan will host games #7 and #8 of the NJAC Tournament starting at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.
