#22 Women's Lacrosse Falls to #13 TCNJ, 16-12, in NJAC Championship Game

Profs will await the announcement of the NCAA Championship field

EWING, NJ - #13 TCNJ scored seven goals in the fourth quarter to break open a very tight game and defeat #22 Rowan, 16-12, to claim the 2025 NJAC Women's Lacrosse Championship.

Rowan (15-3), which has set the school record for victories, is hopeful of receiving an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship. The bracket will be announced on Monday, May 5 with Rowan seeking its first trip to the NCAA's since 2018.

Elaina Corson scored five times and had two assists for Rowan, with Calista Burke netting three goals. Molly Green had one goal, her 40th of the season, along with three draw controls. Goalie Mel Rodgers made eight saves as she faced 30 TCNJ shots.

The contest was nip and tuck throughout, with five ties and numerous lead changes, with the final margin being the largest lead of the game.

After Rowan trailed 8-7 at halftime, the Profs came out in the third quarter and regained the lead, 11-9, led by three goals from Corson. But TCNJ put together a streak of seven consecutive goals, with the last one coming with two minutes to play, to give the Lions a 16-11 lead. Corson tallied the Profs' final goal with 1:31 remaining.

Although TCNJ (14-4) scored the game's first goal, Rowan answered with three in a row from Alexis Lowry, Burke and Corson. But TCNJ would tie it, 3-3, before the end of the first quarter.

Rowan again scored three in a row to start the second quarter, with Burke netting two and Lowry adding another, to go up, 6-3. The Lions rallied with four straight to take a brief 7-6 lead but Yasmin Harris scored to tie it again, 7-7.  TCNJ scored with four minutes to go before halftime to inch ahead, 8-7.

The NCAA Championship first and second rounds begin next weekend, May 10-11, at campus sites.
