Record-Setting Season for #23 Women's Lacrosse Ends in NCAA Third Round to #7 Wesleyan, 16-4; Corson Sets Mark for Single-Season Goals

WATERVILLE, ME - Rowan's record-setting season came to an end in the third round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship as the #23 Profs were defeated by #7 Wesleyan (CT), 16-4.
 
Junior Elaina Corson scored twice in the game to set the Rowan record for goals in a season with 84. The Profs finished the year with a best-ever 16-3 mark, their first NCAA appearance since 2018, and advancing the furthest in the tournament in the 18 years under head coach Lindsay Delaney. 
 
Wesleyan (15-5) began the game with 13 consecutive goals to hand the Profs a difficult deficit.  Senior Calista Burke put the Profs on the board at 9:27 of the third quarter with her career-best 57th goal of the season.
 
Corson scored twice in the fourth quarter, one assisted by Burke, while Amelia Govern also tallied for Rowan.
 
Mel Rodgers faced 35 shots from Wesleyan and made eight saves as she ended her career with her finest season.
 
Midfielder Molly Green closes out her Rowan career ranking at the top of the the Profs' all-time lists in draw controls (370), ground balls (218) and caused turnovers (156) while ranking seventh in career goals (160).
 
Other seniors having an impact on the Profs' success were Hannah Lombardo, Katie Montenero, Sophia Schiavo and Sydney Helmick.
 
Wesleyan moves on to play host Colby, which defeated Stevens, 17-6.
