PITMAN, NJ -- Steven Maiers, Damon Suriani, McKenzie Melvin, BethAnne Doderer, Jason Agyemang, Jamile Gantt, and Julian Conigliaro were all cited by the New Jersey Athletic Conference in its weekly awards program for the week ending April 27th.

Maiers, a senior righthander, was named the NJAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week after earning two victories last week throwing 14.0 scoreless innings, while allowing eight hits and striking out 14. In the 10-3 game one win at Ramapo, he went 8.0 innings as the starter, striking out six and giving up seven hits. At NJCU, he entered the second game in relief and went 6.0 innings, keeping the home team off the board and allowing just one hit. Maiers also struck out five and was credited with the win. The senior righthander earns NJAC weekly honors for the first time this season. He is 5-1 on the season with a 3.14 ERA and 46 strikeouts.

Suriani earns the NJAC Baseball Rookie of the Week honor for the second consecutive week. The freshman outfielder batted .455 (10-22) as a starter in six games last week, while totaling 10 runs scored and four RBI. He went 2-for-6 with four runs and two RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Ramapo and was 2-for-5 with two runs in a 10-6 win at Rutgers-Newark. In the Profs' 21-4 home win over Rutgers-Newark, he went 2-for-3 with a double, one run and two RBI. Suriani went 4-for-8 with three runs in the doubleheader sweep at NJCU, including a 3-for-5 effort in the 7-4 second-game win. The freshman is hitting .473 on the season with 20 runs and 17 RBI.

Melvin scores her second NJAC Softball Player of the Week award this season as the senior batted .643 (9-for-14) with seven runs, three doubles, three stolen bases, two RBI, a triple and a walk while posting a .722 on-base and 1.000 slugging average in a 4-0 week. She had multi hits and at least an extra-base hit in all four games. Melvin scored three times while going 2-for-3 in game one vs. Rutgers-Camden. The senior then went 2-for-3 with two runs and a triple in game one at Montclair State, then 3-for-4 with a run scored in game two. This season, Melvin is batting .452 with 44 runs, 30 RBI, 14 doubles, three triples, and 11 stolen bases while starting all 40 games.

Doderer was named the NJAC Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week for the second time this year after the freshman went 2-0 with two wins in relief, while tossing a total of seven scoreless innings, adding five K's, two walks, and just two hits. The righthander gave up one hit and added two K's and a walk in three innings to score the win in game two vs. Rutgers-Camden. On Friday at Montclair State, she threw the final four innings (3 K, 1 BB, 1 H) as the Profs rallied late to win in extras in game two. Doderer this year owns a 4-0 record in six appearances with a 2.00 ERA in 14.0 innings of work, adding 13 strikeouts and six walks, while yielding four earned runs on nine hits.

Agyemang earned the NJAC Men's Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week running the #5 Division III time in the 110 meters hurdles (13.88) at The Penn Relays. Agyemang already owns the #2 fastest Division III time (13.82) as well.

Gantt was chosen the NJAC Men's Track & Field Field Athlete of the Week after clearing 2.02 meters in the high jump, which is a #25 Division III mark and a #3 NJAC mark, at the TCNJ Lions Invitational.

Conigliaro picked up the NJAC Men's Track & Field Rookie of the Week as the freshman was part of the Division III record-setting 4x200 relay (1:25.04), set at The Penn Relays.
 
#17 Baseball (29-8), winners of 11 consecutive games, are the second seed in the NJAC Championship and will host fifth-seeded Ramapo in a first-round game on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The remainder of the double-elimination NJAC tournament will be held at Montclair State on Saturday and Sunday.

#2 Softball (39-1) has clinched the top playoff seed in the NJAC Championship Tournament and have earned a first-round bye. The Profs will open its title defense on Saturday at 1 p.m. against the winner of Tuesday's Kean/Stockton winner. The game will be played at Kean. The rest of the playoffs will shift to Glassboro next Tuesday, May 6th and the weekend of May 9-10.

#4 Men's Track & Field will get back to action at this weekend's NJAC Championships. The two-day event kicks off on Saturday, May 3rd and will be held at The College of New Jersey, where the Profs aim for its tenth-consecutive conference crown.
