PITMAN, NJ -- The New Jersey Athletic Conference highlighted five Rowan student-athletes in its first weekly awards program for the 2026-27 season.
Michael Zarfati was named the NJAC Football Offensive Player of the Week,
Emily Zanni was chosen the NJAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week,
Rowan Horner was selected the NJAC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Wee,
Luke McNamee garnered the NJAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, and
Mike Moore earned NJAC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week honors.
Zarfati had game highs of eight catches for 173 yards and two scores against #21 Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday. The 173 yards were a career high for the junior. His first TD came on the opening drive of the contest, as he hauled in a 43-yard pass, breaking a pair of tackles to put the first points of the game on the board.
Zanni was the top Division III finisher at Friday's season-opening Lehigh Invitational, placing 17th (22:43.6) in a field of 110 runners.
Horner also ran at the same meet, clocking in at 19.30.8 in his first collegiate action in a 34th place result.
Moore, a freshman goalkeeper, earned wins in the first starts of his career, allowing just one goal. He made one save and allowed only one goal in his debut, a 2-1 win over Stockton. Moore then made four saves to post his first career shutout in the 2-0 win at #6 Dickinson.Â
McNamee, a senior captain, recorded an assist in each of the Profs' victories, while helping the defense hold the opponents to just one goal. The defender assisted on
Evan Vilaboy's game-winning tally with :50 remaining in the 2-1 win over Stockton and he picked up one on Rowan's late second goal in the win at #6 Dickinson.Â
Rowan Football (0-1) heads to Moravian this Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
The #12 Rowan Men's Soccer team (2-0) plays at home on Wednesday, facing Ursinus at 7 p.m. and then host Penn State-Abington on Saturday evening, October 12, at 6 p.m.Â
Both the Rowan Men's and Women's Cross Country teams return to action on Saturday, September 19th at the Osprey Open hosted by Stockton.
