#3 Softball Claims DH Sweep at William Paterson; Sets Program Win Streak

WAYNE, NJ -- #3 Rowan set a program record with its 26th win in a row after the Profs took a pair at William Paterson on Tuesday in NJAC action, winning 15-1 in game one and 9-0 in the second.

The 26-straight wins also marks the best start (26-0) to a season in team history. The previous unbeaten streak came in 2015 when the team won its first 25 games of the season. Individually, Payton MacNair became the program's all-time leader in doubles as the fifth year had two on the day to give her 63, breaking the three-way tie of 61 previously held by Morgan Smith (2015-18) and Carly Anderson (2016-19).

Game one
Abigail Pawlowski went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and tied a career high with four runs. Breanna Bryant (2-for-2, 2 BB) and Aly Reim (2-for-4) each drove in three RBI's as Rowan totaled 15 hits in the five-inning affair. MacNair and Kate Evick also added two hits apiece.

Rylee Lutz allowed just one hit in four innings of work, adding two walks and four strikeouts. Makayla Veneziale tossed the final inning.

In the first, Pawlowski's RBI double highlighted a three-run frame for an early lead. After two runs crossed in the third and two more in the fourth, the Profs plated seven in the sixth on five hits, three walks and a Pioneer error. Reim hit a two-run double while Evick knocked in a pair as part of the inning.

Game two
The Profs picked up where they left off, scoring five times in the first inning. MacNair paced the offense, going 4-for-4, with three RBI's, two doubles, and a triple. Her two-bagger in the first inning that scored Liz McCaffery gave her the all-time doubles record.

MacNair doubled in McCaffery again in the fourth to make it 6-0. In the fifth after a two-run double from McKenzie Melvin, MacNair's triple added to the lead.

Emily McCutcheon, BethAnne Doderer, and Madison Cooley combined to throw a two-hitter with no walks. McCutcheon, who went three of the five innings, was credited with the victory (13-0).

The Profs continue NJAC play on Saturday with a trip to New Jersey City for two beginning at 1 p.m.
