YORK, PA - York scored runs in all but two innings as the Spartans handed #16/#17 Rowan a 9-3 loss in non-conference baseball action. The Profs (14-6) close out a stretch of four road games in four days and return home to resume conference play on Thursday.
Jason Morgan and
Nick Struble had two hits and an RBI each as the Profs totaled seven hits on the day.
Thomas Sullivan (2-1) suffered his first loss of the year as he went three innings.
The Profs jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Morgan led off the game with a double and promptly scored when
Phil Sedalis singled. Struble drove in the second run with a single through the right side to bring home Sedalis.
York (11-12) didn't waste any time tying it as Michael Tinneny hit a two-run homer over the rightfield fence in the bottom half of the inning. The Spartans kept going with one run in the third and another two-run home run, by Alex Neeld in the third to take a 5-2 lead.
Rowan scored its final run in the fifth as Morgan singled to score
Joey Bogart, who led off the inning with a double.
From there, the Spartans closed it out with a run each in the fifth and sixth and two in the eighth inning.
The Profs will play their home conference opener on Thursday when they host Stockton in a single game at 3:30 p.m. For fans, the game will feature free hot dogs and a chance for two student to win $15,000 each with a baseball toss.
