GLASSBORO, NJ -
Calista Burke scored four goals, and
Molly Green and
Alexis Lowry netted three, as Rowan upset #17 Stevens, 13-6, in women's lacrosse action. The Profs move to 3-0 on the season while handing Stevens its first loss.
Burke added one assist, as did Green, with
Fiona Lockhart scoring two goals in the win. Goalie
Mel Rodgers made 16 saves to earn the victory.
Rowan jumped out to a 5-1 lead on the Ducks in the first quarter. Stevens (3-1) opened the scoring in the first minute and then
Alexis Lowry knotted the game just four minutes later. Green followed and then Lowry picked up her second of the quarter, with Corson and Burke closing out the scoring.
The Profs extended their streak to eight straight goals as they notched the first three of the second quarter, owning an 8-1 lead at 11:09. Burke had the first two of the period, with Lockhart notching the third. Stevens ended the Profs' streak with a pair of goals and scored three in five minutes, with two from Maddie Hogan, to pull within 9-4. Green tallied the last goal of the half, with the assist from Burke, to give the Profs a 10-4 lead at intermission.
Green scored one goal and Burke had a goal and assist in the low-scoring third quarter as each team scored twice, as Rowan maintained a 12-6 lead.
There was only one goal in the fourth, when Lowry scored at 14:07 to provide the final margin.
It was Rowan's first win over a ranked team since 2022, when it defeated Washington College.
Next up for Rowan is a trip to Mulhenberg on Wednesday, March 5th.
