Fiona Lockhart scored a career-high six goals as the Rowan women's lacrosse team got its season off to a flying start with a 21-5 win at Ursinus.
Molly Green,
Elaina Corson and
Alexis Lowry scored three goals apiece and
Trish Gillen registered two goals and two assists in the victory.
Hannah Lombardo and
Calista Burke scored one goal apiece and Corson and Green each contributed two assists.
Rowan began the game scoring four straight goals and building a 6-2 lead by the end of the quarter. Lockhart netted the Profs' first goal of the year and added two more in the period.
Green scored the first two of the second quarter, with Corson assisting on one, as the Profs tallied five straight en route to an 11-2 advantage. Corson totaled three goals in the period and Rowan owned a 13-3 halftime lead.
After Lockhart opened the scoring in the third, Ursinus countered with one, but the Profs netted four straight straight unassisted goals in the third quarter to own a commanding 17-4 lead.
Rowan closed it out in the fourth quarter tallying four more goals by Gillen, Lockhart,
Amelia Govern and freshman
Sofia Lijo, who notched her first career goal.
The Profs outshot the Bears, 29-18, and starting goalie
Mel Rodgers made eight saves in 53 minutes, with
Kylie Durboraw relieving her in the final six minutes.
Rowan will host Drew in the home opener on Wednesday, February 26 at 4 p.m.
