ELIZABETHTOWN, PA -- Rowan was handed a 58-55 setback at Elizabethtown in the Profs' season opener on Sunday.

Jess McLaughlin netted a career-high 20 points while adding five rebounds and hitting all four of the team's three pointers. Abigail Jazmin added nine points and eight rebounds with Megan Donelson kicking in eight points and nine rebounds.

The Profs looked to close a 10-point deficit with 4:21 left in the game, getting within two on two occasions in the final 12 seconds. A last attempt at a three-pointer was off the mark.

Kamryn Mengel led the Blue Jays with a game-high 21 points. Her layup late in the second quarter gave E-Town its largest lead of the game, 36-22. Two Donelson free throws right before the buzzer sent the Profs down 12 at the half.

The Blue Jays committed six turnovers and Rowan limited the home team to 2-of-15 shooting in the fourth to try and claw back in the contest.

Rowan will have its home opener this Wednesday as the Profs welcome Delaware Valley. Tip off from Esby Gymnasium is at 7:30 p.m.
