NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Top-ranked Christopher Newport used three first-half goals to defeat #14 Rowan, 3-0, in non-conference field hockey action today. The loss ends Rowan's eight-game winning streak, and the Profs are now 12-4.

Mariah Juiliano made a season-high 14 saves as the Captains took 27 shots to eight from Rowan.

Lindsey Loar scored a hat trick for the Captains, with the game's first three goals. CNU (16-0) took a 1-0 lead in the first quarter and then tallied two goals in a span of three minutes in the second quarter as the home team held a 3-0 lead at halftime.

It marked the first time this season that the Profs were shut out.

Rowan faces another stiff test against fourth-ranked Salisbury on the road on Wednesday. October 29, before returning home to close out the regular season on November 1 vs. Montclair State.
The NJAC regular-season champion Profs will open the conference championship at home in the semifinals on November 5.Â
