Sydney Kowalczyk records her first career hat trick

GLASSBORO, NJ - Sydney Kowalczyk scored her first career hat trick as #14 Rowan defeated William Paterson, 7-0, and clinched its fifth straight NJAC field hockey regular-season title.

Rowan (13-3; 5-0), now on a nine-game winning streak, will be the top seed in the 2025 NJAC Championship, which begins with the semifinals on November 5th. The Profs will be seeking their fifth consecutive conference championship.

The freshman scored her three goals in a span of four minutes. Her first tally was unassisted at 5:15, and then she scored off a pass from Kaylee Wenzel two minutes later and followed with the third goal, assisted by Tess Herman, at 9:13. Kowalczyk's 17 goals this season are the most in the NJAC, while she now has five multiple-goal games this season.

Ava Thomas added to Rowan's total near the end of the first quarter as she tallied her second of the season.

Katie Meehan upped the lead to 5-0 when she scored her first goal of the year with an unassisted tally just seconds into the second quarter.

With two minutes remaining in the third quarter, Victoria Tullio notched her first goal of the year to increase Rowan's lead to 6-0.

Riley McClelland closed out the scoring with less than two minutes to play.

Rowan outshot William Paterson (2-12; 0-5) and all four goalies contributed to the shutout – Mariah Juiliano, Kelley Crescenzo, Ella Morton and Delfina Vanelli.

The Profs head on the road for a pair of contests against Top 5 teams. Rowan will take on top-ranked Christopher Newport on Saturday in a 1 p.m. game and then head to #4 Salisbury on Wednesday, October 29. The Profs will close out the regular season at home vs. Montclair State on November 1.
