GLASSBORO, NJ -
Abby Goblirsch and
Mia Foti had two goals each to lead #14 Rowan field hockey to a 5-2 win over Kean this evening, at the beginning of the University's Homecoming weekend. The Profs extend their winning streak to eight with the victory while improving to 12-3 and 4-0 in the NJAC.
Â
Goblirsch converted a penalty stroke in the first quarter, for her first goal of the season, to give the Profs a 1-0 lead with just over three minutes remaining.
Â
Foti increased the lead to 2-0 with an unassisted in the second quarter before Kean got on the board at 24:57 on a goal by Jazmyne Frack.
Â
The Profs increased the lead to 3-1 when Foti opened the second half with another goal, her ninth of the season, assisted by
Alexa Ronning. Frack again answered for Kean with a goal at 35:27, pulling the Cougars within, 3-2.
Â
But
Sophia Weisler notched her fifth goal of the year as she deflected a shot by Ronning off a corner just one minute later, extending the Profs' lead to 4-2.
Â
Goblirsch finished off the win and the first multiple-goal game of her career with an unassisted goal at 44:13.
Â
Mariah Juiliano made four saves in goal to earn the win while Rowan outshot Kean, 13-6.
