Women's Soccer Battles Stevens to a 3-3 Draw

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan and Stevens played to a wild 3-3 tie Wednesday evening as all six goals were scored in the second half.

Olivia Giordano scored twice for the Profs but it was the visiting Ducks who tallied two goals in the final 11:25 of regulation to salvage the draw.

Rowan totaled 11 saves, nine from goalie Calista Burke while the Prof defense added two team saves. Burke made six stops in the first half on seven Stevens shots. The Ducks' Madelyn Nau recorded both her saves of the contest in the first 45 minutes.

After a scoreless first half, the Profs opened the scoring early in just the 47th minute. Lianna SanFelice found a streaking Giordano who one-touched it past Nau for a 1-0 lead. The pair hooked up again just over two minutes later as Giordano headed in a well-placed corner kick from SanFelice for her fifth goal on the year and more important a 2-0 Rowan lead.

Stevens got its first goal on the night in the 55th minute from Lauren Alley but the Profs restored its two-goal cushion in the 58th minute as Sara Wiedeman raced up the middle of the field for her third goal on the year, an unassisted marker for a 3-1 edge by the home team.

Nicole Angelini struck twice for Stevens late in the contest, with her first tally coming in the 79th minute, and then added her second on the evening in the 87th minute.

The Profs will open New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Saturday in a home matchup with Rutgers-Newark beginning at 11 a.m.
