COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The #10 Rowan field hockey team suffered a 6-2 loss to Ursinus in the season opener for both teams, with freshman
Jenna Gray netting both of the Profs' goals.
Ursinus jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second quarter until Gray scored Rowan's first goal of the year at 30:45. The Bears' stretched their lead to 3-1 in the final minute of the third quarter.
Gray again answered, taking a pass from
Kaylee Wenzel and scoring at 52:25 to pull the Profs within, 3-2.\
The one-goal deficit was short-lived when Ursinus added its fourth just 20 seconds later, starting a run of three consecutive goals to seal the win.
Rowan held a slim 11-8 lead in shots on goal, with
Mariah Juiliano making two saves in the cage.
The Profs are back in action on Wednesday at Swarthmore and will play at Johns Hopkins on Saturday.
