GLASSBORO, NJ -- Tournament MVP Rylee Lutz allowed one run on just two hits to help lift #13 Rowan to a 9-1 win over MIT to capture the NCAA Division III Glassboro Regional in a rain-delayed game on Saturday.

The Profs advance to the NCAA Super Regionals for the second consecutive year and will host #3 Christopher Newport, May 23-24 in a best-of-three series. Game times will be announced on Sunday.

Kaitlyn Riggs exploded for a career-high five RBI as the senior was 3-for-4 hitting with a pair of doubles and two runs scored. Her bases loaded-clearing double in the third inning was a big part of a four-run frame to put Rowan ahead for good. Payton MacNair was 2-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI. Breanna Bryant added two hits and Liz McCaffery doubled, walked and scored twice as the Profs head to the second weekend of the tournament for the second year in a row.

Lutz limited the damage in the first inning as the Engineers crossed a run and left the bases loaded.

In that third, a lead-off double from McCaffery followed by back-to-back walks to Morgan Tripodi and Cat Thomas loaded the bases for Riggs, who delivered a double down the left field line plating all three runners. Riggs later moved up to third on a single from Bryant and scored on a wild pitch, giving the Profs a 4-1 edge.

With one out and runners at first and second for MIT in the fourth, the game was rain delayed for over three hours, resuming shortly after 3:30 p.m. Lutz came back to the circle to get a fielder's choice putout and a grounder to third to end the threat.

MacNair led the bottom of the fourth with a triple, and would score on Riggs' second RBI double. McKenzie Melvin got in on the triple act, notching her second one in consecutive games to plate Riggs to stretch the lead to 6-1.

Rowan would end it in the sixth, crossing three more runs with Abigail Pawlowski's RBI walk off double to score MacNair to kick in the eight-run rule and wrap up the regional.

Joining Lutz on the all tournament team was Bryant, MacNair, and Riggs along with MIT's Kennedy Adkinson & McKenzie Bivin; Toni Cacopardo & Jaelynn Miller of Centenary; and Jaycee Filancia & Jill Shelbourne of SUNY-New Paltz.

Lutz went 3-0 in the tournament, allowing just three runs in 17 innings of work. She earned the win in the tournament opener against Centenary and would come in relief in Saturday's win over MIT.
