Stockton Holds Off #10 Baseball, 5-2

GLASSBORO, NJ  - A three-run fourth inning helped propel Stockton to a 5-2 win over #10 Rowan in NJAC baseball action, in a rescheduled contest, handing the Profs their third straight loss.

Trailing 4-0, Rowan (13-7; 1-4 NJAC)  got two runs back in the sixth inning when Phil Sedalis connected on his seventh home run of the season, a shot to centerfield that brought home Tyler Cannon, who had doubled.

The Profs loaded the bases in the seventh but couldn't get any more runs as Stockton's Reese Miller shut them down to record his fourth save of the year.

Stockton (13-10; 4-1 NJAC) jumped out in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by J Nitti and led 1-0 through three innings. Stockton added the eventual winning runs in the fourth by way of a two-run single from Tucker Elder, to take a 4-0 lead.

Sedalis got the Profs back within 4-2 with his homer but the Profs would leave six men on base in the final three innings.

Stockton added the final run in the top of the ninth as a hit batter with the bases loaded brought in the run.

Matt Choi (2-1) went 3.1 innings and suffered the loss, while Stockton starter Zack McCabe earned the win as he limited the Profs to four hits.

The Profs will head to Stockton on Tuesday for the rescheduled second game of the series.
