Rally Falls Short for #18 Baseball as Stockton Earns Walk-Off Win, 5-4

GALLOWAY, NJ – Phil Sedalis hit an RBI double in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game, but it wasn't enough as Stockton hit a walk-off single to sweep the two-game series with #18 Rowan, 5-4. The Profs fell to 13-8 and 1-5 in the league with their fourth straight loss.

Trailing by two runs, Rowan pulled within 4-3 in the fifth inning as Jason Morgan hit a sacrifice fly to score Tyler Cannon, who had led off with a single.

Pinch hitter Kevin Stewart opened the ninth with a single and then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Joey Bogart. Sedalis hit his eighth double of the year to bring home Stewart and tie the game at 4-4.

But Stockton (14-10; 5-1) took advantage of two hit batters and a Profs' error to load the bases. Robbie Ford connected on the game-winning hit with a single up the middle to score Tucker Elder.

Rowan scored a pair of runs in the top of the first as Cannon doubled, Sedalis reached on an error and both runners were eventually brought home on sacrifice flies from Pat Defeciani and Dylan Maria.

Stockton countered with four runs in the fourth inning on four hits and a Rowan error to take a 4-2 lead. Ford and Tony Gatti had RBI singles and Jordan Nitti hit a triple to help the Ospreys.

Shane Sax made his first start as a Prof but Charlie Russell (1-3) suffered the loss in relief.

Morgan and Cannon were the only Rowan players with multiple hits, while Cannon also scored two runs.

The Profs will look to rebound on Thursday when they start a home-and-home series with Rutgers-Camden, hosting the Scarlet Raptors at 3:30 p.m.
