#13 Softball Stays Hot, Takes Two From NJCU, 8-1, and 12-1

GLASSBORO, NJ -- #13 Rowan stretched its win streak to 13 games after sweeping New Jersey City in an NJAC Doubleheader Saturday afternoon, taking game one, 8-1, and the second, 12-1.

Game one
Kaitlyn Riggs drove in a career-high three RBI as she and Zara MacNair finished with two hits apiece. McKenzie Melvin scored three times and swiped two bases as the Profs overcame a first-inning deficit with three runs in the home half of the first inning.

Rylee Lutz allowed one run on four hits and four walks while fanning six batters, raising her record to 7-4 this season.

After the Gothic Knights plated a run in its first at-bat, Rowan scored three of its own, thanks to Riggs with her RBI single, a RBI triple from Cat Thomas and RBI double from Payton MacNair.

Now up 4-1 in the sixth, the Profs added three runs highlighted by Rigg's two-run single.

Game two
The day's second game saw Rowan score early and often en route to the five-inning decision.

Five Profs had two hits each as the team totaled 13 for the game. Thomas knocked in three runs with Riggs plating two runs with her two-run double in the second inning as part of a five spot in the frame.

Starter Emily McCutcheon scored the win, going four shutout innings, yielding just three hits.

Rowan is right back at it tomorrow with a makeup DH against William Paterson at home beginning at 1 p.m.
