MONTCLAIR, NJ – #20 Montclair State totaled 32 hits in two games as it shut out #10 Rowan in an NJAC doubleheader, 8-0 and 12-0, at Yogi Berra Stadium today.
Game 1
Starter Jack Haveson went eight innings and limited the Profs to just four hits.
The Profs loaded the bases in the top of the ninth, but weren't able to convert.
Pat Defeciani had three hits, including a double, and
Dylan Maria also recorded three hits for Rowan.
Rowan starter
Mike Shannon (3-2) went six innings and struck out four, but was tagged with his second loss of the year.
MSU only had three extra-base hits in the game, including triples by Joe Gisonda and Jason Moore.
Game 2
Montclair State didn't let up in the second game and pounded out 21 hits en route to the 12-0 win. Sam Angelo had four hits, including a solo homer in the first inning to get the Red Hawks started.
Rowan start
Zach Coluccio (3-1) was saddled with the loss. Rowan mustered just seven hits in the loss with Defeciani getting the only extra-base hit with a double.
The Profs dropped to 13-6 with the pair of losses while Montclair State improved to 23-4.
Rowan will play a make-up game against Stockton on Sunday at home at 1:30 p.m., and will travel to Stockton on Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
