Game Two Highlights
The Profs leapfrog Ramapo, who fell in both games to Stockton on the day, back in first place and in control of its own destiny to clinch the #1 playoff seed.
Game one
Starter
Rylee Lutz (11-6) struck out seven on just four hits as the Profs used a big fourth inning to open up a sizable lead.
Liz McCaffery's RBI double in the fifth kicked in the run-rule to give Rowan the 8-0 victory.
McCaffery drove in two runs in the game, as did
Abigail Pawlowski who knocked a pair with her triple as part of the four-run fourth.
After getting a run across in each of the first, second, and third innings, the Profs plated four runs, all with two outs, in the fourth.
Payton MacNair tripled home
Cat Thomas to make it 4-0. Later, MacNair and
Kaitlyn Riggs came around to score on Pawlowski's third triple on the year, with Pawlowski coming home as the throw to third was wild for a 7-0 edge.
MacNair, Pawlowski, and
Breanna Bryant were each 2-for-3.
Game two
A two-run triple from MacNair, her team-leading seventh three-bagger on the season, and later a two-run double from
Grace Shukaitis in the first capped a five-run frame, helping erase a 1-0 Scarlet Raider lead. The Profs added to the advantage with four more runs in the second.
In the fourth,
McKenzie Melvin cleared the bases with her three-run double.
It was more than enough for starter
Emily McCutcheon, who yielded the one run on four hits, with five K's and no walks to raise her record to an NJAC-leading 16-1.
Melvin finished the game 2-for-3 with that double and a lead-off triple in the second. The three RBI ties a career high for the junior.
Keelin O'Brien doubled in Giulia Olear in the first inning for Rutgers-Newark.
Rowan will resume action on Tuesday as the team head to Rutgers-Camden for two games starting at 3 p.m.
