GLASSBORO, NJ -- #13 Rowan was back in action at home on Monday, taking on Rosemont where the Profs took both games, 17-1, and 8-0, stretching the team's win streak to nine games. The Profs totaled 23 hits and nine walks as both games ended in the fifth inning due to the run rule.
Game one
The Profs had season highs in hits and runs led by
Cat Thomas who went 3-for-3 with three runs and five RBI, both career highs.
Liz McCaffery scored three times with
Abigail Pawlowski tying a personal best with three RBI.
Starter
Rylee Lutz (5-4) allowed just one baserunner via a walk while posting seven strikeouts in three innings of work.
Veronica Goode closed out the contest, throwing the final two innings.
After a single and back-to-back walks to load the bases in the bottom of the first, Thomas helped clear them with her three-run double. RBI doubles from Pawlowski and
Payton MacNair capped a five-spot in the first.
Thomas followed with a two-run single to highlight a four-run frame for a 9-0 lead after the second inning. The home team added seven more runs in the third on four hits, three walks, a pair of hit by pitches, and a Rosemont error.
MacNair was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and McCaffery added two hits and a walk.
Game two
Rowan jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, thanks to Thomas' two-run single, and then later exploded for six more in the fourth.
Morgan Tripodi and
Breanna Bryant each had an RBI triple while
Zara MacNair crossed a run home with a double in that fourth.
Thomas kept the hot bat, finishing 2-for-3 with two more RBI, giving her seven on the day.
Kaitlyn Riggs and
Zara MacNair each added two hits. MacNair also scored twice.
Emily McCutcheon fanned five, gave up just six hits and did not allow a walk to notch her 10th win this season (10-1).
Rowan opens New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Friday when the Profs head to Kean for a pair of games beginning at 1 p.m.
