Lutz's No-Hitter Sparks #13 Softball to Sweep at Haverford

HAVERFORD, PA -- #13 Rowan picked up a pair of shutout victories at Haverford on Friday. Rylee Lutz fired her first career no-hitter in a 15-0 win in game one. Game two saw starter Emily McCutcheon hold the Fords to three hits in a 6-0 triumph to help stretch the Profs' win streak to seven games.

Game one saw Rowan pound out 15 hits and reach base on nine walks. McKenzie Melvin was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple, two RBI and a career-high four runs scored. Grace Shukaitis, Abigail Pawlowski, and Zara MacNair also knocked in two runs each as the Profs plated eight runs in the top of the first as the game was ended after the fifth due to the run rule.

Lutz fanned five and walked five to even her record at 4-4 on the season. It was the first no hitter for the Profs since a 8-0 win over Stockton on March 27, 2021.

Kaitlyn Riggs helped pace the offense in game two, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Pawlowski and Breanna Bryant drove in two runs apiece as McCutcheon did not allow a walk while striking out two batters.

Pawlowski's two-run double in the second was followed by Bryant's two-run, two-bagger in the fourth for a 4-0 lead. Bryant would later score in the frame on an RBI single from Melvin. Payton MacNair added a sac fly to score Liz McCaffery in the fifth to account for the scoring.

Rowan returns home to face off with Rosemont for two on Monday starting at 2:30 p.m.
