Winning Streak Ends for #10 Baseball as Bethel Rallies for 7-4 Win

DAVENPORT, FL- The 10th-ranked Rowan baseball team saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end as Bethel used a four-run seventh inning to rally for a 7-4 win today at the RussMatt Invitational. It marks the first loss on the trip for the Profs as they move to 8-2 on the year.

Anthony Schooley went 3-for-4 to lead Rowan while Joey Bogart and Karson Harcourt had two hits apiece.

Rowan took a 3-0 lead in the fourth after Nick Struble doubled and Joey Bogart singled to bring home Struble and Harcourt.

Bethel (6-6) got two runs back in the sixth on a two-run home run by Xavier Lortie to bring the Royals within, 3-2. Bethel exploded for four runs in the seventh as Joey Meuer brought home one with a single and Lortie hit his second home run of the game, a three-run shot, that gave the Royals a 7-3 lead.

Rowan was able to score once in the ninth, after a long single by Jason Morgan allowed Phil Sedalis to cross the plate and provide the final margin.

Thomas Sullivan made the start but Charlie Russell (0-1) suffered the loss, with Shane Sax, Nick Cugino and Jayson Dougherty all making appearances in relief.

The Profs close out the Florida trip on Saturday morning when they face Southern Maine at 9:30 a.m.
