GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan will open its 2024 season on Tuesday, February 27th with a home doubleheader against SUNY-Cortland in a new start time of 11 a.m. here in Glassboro as the Profs aim for greater heights after last season's run to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
Heading into the year, Rowan,
ranked fifth in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's (NFCA) Division III Preseason Poll and
voted the NJAC Preseason favorite, is coming off a 42-10 record, which ties a program mark for most wins in a season.
Returning to the circle is third-team All American, first-team all-region, and reigning NJAC Pitcher of the Year
Rylee Lutz. The junior turned in quite the performance in 2023, finishing with a 24-7 record with a 1.86 ERA and nine shutouts. In 192 innings, Lutz amassed 186 strikeouts while opponents hit just .191 off her.
All-region and all-conference selections in
Payton MacNair,
Cat Thomas,
McKenzie Melvin, and
Liz McCaffery join returners
Grace Shukaitis,
Breanna Bryant, and
Kaitlyn Riggs for a potent lineup.
Action continues next weekend for a slew of games at Salisbury before the team heads to Florida to play in 12 games over spring break, March 8-15.
