GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA -- A 25-3 second quarter helped spark Rowan to a 77-38 non-conference victory at Gwynedd Mercy Monday evening.
Kate Herlihy led all scorers with a game-high 23 points and added seven boards, five assists, and three steals as the Profs shot over 60% in the first half.
Shayla Johnson kicked in eight points, three blocks, and a career-best 10 rebounds while
Kristina Johnson (nine points) and Herlihy totaled six of the team's three-pointers on the night.
Rowan came out firing in the first quarter, hitting three three-pointers in total of five in the first ten minutes. Herlihy was perfect on all three attempts from the arc, but it was the Griffins closing the stanza on an 8-0 run to get within 21-15.
In the second, the Profs continued with the hot hand, going 9-of-14 (64%) from the floor while limiting Gwynedd to just 1-of-13.
Shayla Johnson netted all eight of her points in the frame to help give Rowan a 46-18 score at the half.
Alexis Eagan and Brianna McFadden led the Griffins with seven points apiece. McFadden registered four rebounds and four assists.
Rowan won the battle of the boards, 48-26.
Cornysha Davis pulled down a personal-best seven rebounds.
Next up for the Profs is a home date against Rutgers-Camden in an NJAC tilt on Wednesday, December 4th. Tip off is slated for 7:30 p.m. here in Esbjornson Gymnasium.
