PHILADELPHIA, PA --
Jason Blanks earned a spot on the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Football Team for the second year in a row.
The team is voted upon by the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Student-athletes must have a 3.00 GPA or better in order to qualify.
All 24 members of the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Football Team were named to their respective all-conference teams for the 2024 season including 13 first-team honorees. This year's Academic All-Area Team included six repeat selections, including Blanks.
A senior Sports Communication major and team captain, Blanks totaled 36 tackles (23 solo), along with three interceptions, four pass breakups, four tackles for losses, a forced fumble, and recovery as he was limited to eight games. He was named first-team All-NJAC.
Also honored on the team was Jason Bateman, Brett Nabb, and Chris Rivera of Eastern; Jalen Bradford, Jordan Carr, Marc Clayton, Ryan DiVergilis, and Trey Williams of Ursinus; Jack Fairman, Albert Jang, Carter Janki, Shiloh Means, Netinho Olivieri, and Jared Richardson of Penn; Brendan Bell, Shane Hartzell, Ty Trinh, Connor Watkins from Villanova; Sean Henry, Shane Mosley, Connor Noble of West Chester; Cody Reusing and Jacob Kopelman from Widener.
Bell was voted the all-area football performer of the year.
The Profs won their final three games to finish 6-4 and 4-2 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play under first-year head coach
