UNION, NJ -- Rowan held off a late push by Kean as the visiting Profs took down the Cougars, 50-47, Wednesday evening in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest.
Kate Herlihy led the Profs, now winners of five in a row, with a team-high 13 points.
Cara McCoy (13 Points) and Brittany Graff (10 points) reached double digits for Kean. Graff's three pulled Kean back from a 42-28 deficit entering the fourth quarter, to a three-point game with just 18 seconds remaining. Another look from Graf at the buzzer did not fall helping keep the Profs unbeaten in conference play.
Rowan fell behind 9-2 to start the contest but rallied to get within 11-10 at the end of the first. The Profs led by as much as nine in the second thanks to a 16-7 run after a bucket from
Charlotte Carlies with 1:28 in the half (26-17). Kean's Mya Edwards hit a three to cut the Rowan lead to 28-23 at the break.
The Profs limited Kean to just 1-of-12 shooting in the third quarter.
Sabrina Araujo kickstarted the offense with a big three-pointer as Rowan outscored the home team, 14-5, to help build a double-figure lead heading into the fourth.
Graff scored eight points in the fourth quarter for Kean, who got within three (47-44) with just over a minute and later again after her three coming with 18 ticks remaining.
Carlies added seven rebounds while Araujo handed out a career-high five assists. Rookie
Abigail Jazmin kicked in nine points as Rowan had just eight turnovers compared to 22 from Kean, leading to 13 Prof points.
Next up for Rowan is a matchup against William Paterson this Saturday, December 14th in a 1 p.m. tip.
