Women's Soccer Suffers 2-1 Overtime Defeat to Montclair State in NJAC Semifinal

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan was knocked out of the NJAC Tournament as Montclair State prevailed 2-1 in double overtime in a semifinal matchup Wednesday night.

Lianna SanFelice netted a first-half goal for the Profs and held a one-goal edge until the 88th minute as the Red Hawks' Aileen Cahill tallied. After a scoreless first overtime, Montclair State ended it in the 106th minute off a goal from Niki Danz.

SanFelice's third goal of the year came in the 41st minute as her shot from a tough angle outside the box was screened by a MSU defender and Angela Oliveto that got past goalie Solange Bell for a 1-0 lead.

Rowan keeper Calista Burke made all four of her saves in the second half, as the Red Hawks fired off nine shots in the stanza.

Cahill scored on a header after a short pass from the right endline from Tatyanne Schivel tie things up late.

The Profs had two looks in the first extra session, but were turned away from Bell, who finished the evening with seven stops.

Danz picked up a pass from Cahill who one touched one to the far left post past a diving Burke to send Montclair State to the NJAC Championship where they'll take on TCNJ on Saturday.

Rowan will await a possible at-large selection to the Division III Tournament which will be revealed on Monday.
