WAYNE, NJ -- Rowan was knocked out of the 2024 New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament with a 3-0 loss (25-22, 25-10, 25-16) at William Paterson in a semifinal contest Thursday night.
Jena Kaul (9) and
Maya Iovacchini (7) led the team in kills but the Profs were limited to a .041 on the evening (27-22-123).
Brooke Adams kicked in 20 assists and two aces.
Vanessa Hutchinson also served up two aces while adding a team-best 15 digs.
The Pioneers were led by Hope Arce-Reed who registered a match-best 13 kills.
The Profs fell behind 13-8 in the first set but responded with a 12-2 run as a kill from
Hutton Cordrey gave the visitors a 20-15 edge. William Paterson ran off a spurt of its own, closing the set on a 10-2 sprint to go up 1-0.
In the second set, Rowan put together just five kills in the frame but kept things close early on. The Pioneers broke a 6-6 tie scoring eight of the next 10 points to go on and secure a 25-10 score.
Rowan gave it one last push in the third to try and force a fourth set. An ace from Hutchinson knotted the contest up at 12-12 before William Paterson went up 21-15 and would knock out the Profs from the conference postseason.
