NEW YORK, NY - Rowan saw #22 NYU lead from the start and post a 102-78 win over the visiting Profs in men's basketball action at the NYU Tip-Off.
Khalif Meares had 22 points and
Danny Fleming scored 20 for Rowan (0-2).
Although the Profs shot 53 percent in the first half, NYU bettered that, connecting on 61 percent (22-36). The Violets went on to build up 55-41 lead at halftime.
NYU (2-0) didn't let up in the second half, taking a 17-point lead, 63-46, in the first four minutes. The Profs came within 11, 80-69, on a layup by Meares with under seven minutes left in the game, but NYU went on a 12-0 run to pull away, 92-69.
Taz Cantey was the third Prof in double figures with 15 points and five assists.
Rowan will open the home schedule on Wednesday when it hosts Eastern at 7:30 p.m.
