UNION, NJ --
Olivia Giordano netted a pair of goals as Rowan scored a 2-1 New Jersey Athletic Conference win at Kean Wednesday evening.
The win keeps the Profs unbeaten in regular season and in NJAC play this season (12-0-2, 7-0 NJAC) while securing at least a first-round bye in the upcoming conference tournament.
Giordano's first tally on the night came just before halftime as she fired off tough-angle shot from the left side to beat Kean goalie Abigail Wing.
After registering 10 first-half shots, the Profs fired off 15 in the second. In the 74th minute, Giordano scored her NJAC-leading 14th goal as she got a foot off a cross from
Simone Pacetti to slip it by Wing for the 2-0 lead.
Minutes later, Kean caught a break as a long cross into the box was headed by a Rowan defender but the attempt sailed back towards the net over keeper
Calista Burke to cut into the Prof advantage.
Burke finished the night with six saves while Wing ended with eight stops.
Rowan heads to Ramapo on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in a NJAC matchup followed by the regular-season finale at home against nationally-ranked TCNJ on Wednesday, October 30th. The NJAC Tournament kicks off on Saturday, November 2nd in first-round action.
