WASHINGTON, DC – The number-three Rowan field hockey team suffered a 2-1 loss at Catholic University in non-conference action, to even the Profs' record to 1-1 in the first week of the season.
Trailing 2-0 for most of the second half, Rowan got on the board when sophomore
Sidney Pavlishin scored her first of the season, as she sent a shot through the Catholic defenders into the left corner of the cage, with less than two minutes to play.
Catholic (1-0-1) struck early, with a goal by Niki Micciche just three minutes into the contest. The Cardinals added an insurance goal at 48:51, as Micciche assisted Kellie Caputo.
Rowan held a 10-5 edge in penalty corners, but couldn't capitalize and also outshot the home team by a 17-9 margin.
Goalkeeper
Aida Ingram made five saves in the loss.
Rowan returns home and will host Swarthmore on Wednesday evening, at 7 p.m. at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.
