GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan's
Amara Conte earned a spot on the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Men's Track & Field Team. The team is voted upon by the sports information offices of 30 colleges and universities from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
An accounting major, Conte was a three-time NCAA All-American in the indoor and outdoor seasons combined this year. This outdoor season, Conte helped lead the Profs to a third-place finish at nationals. The junior was also a first-team All-NJAC selection as well as USTFCCCA All-Region pick.
In the classroom, Conte also is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National Student-Athlete Honor Society.
In order for a student-athlete to be eligible for academic all-area honors, he/she must be in at least their second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better.
Nine other student-athletes were honored: Ralph Casper of West Chester, Haverford College teammates Aaron Bratt, Ryan Kredell and Jamie Moreland, Isaiah Battle of Ursinus, Aidan Cantine from Swarthmore, Sean Dolan for Villanova, Alex Kristeller of Widener, and Branden Soubik from Gwynedd Mercy. Casper was voted the performer of the year.
