MARIETTA, OHIO -- #20 Rowan advanced to the regional final with a hard-fought 7-5 win over Pfeiffer on day two of the NCAA Tournament pod at Marietta College on Friday afternoon. The Profs will play tomorrow at 2 p.m. (weather depending) needing one win to advance to the super regionals next weekend.

Korie Hague,
McKenzie Melvin, and
Devyn DiPasquale each had two hits while Melvin and
Payton MacNair added two-run home runs.
Pitcher
Emily McCutcheon entered in the second inning and went the distance to notch her tenth win (10-1) on the season, allowing one run on seven hits.
The Profs got on the board in the top of the first. With runners on second and third, Hague doubled in
Breanna Bryant and
Cat Thomas for a 2-0 lead. The Falcons countered in their first at-bat, plating three runs on two hits and three walks.
After Pfeiffer made it 4-2 in the second on an RBI single, Melvin answered in the third with a big two-run home run to left for her fourth dinger on the season.
Payton MacNair got on the longball train as she went deep in the fourth on a two-run shot, her second this season for a 6-4 edge. McCutcheon gave up her lone run in the bottom half but also worked out of jam in that same inning with runners on second and third with one out to limit the damage.
MacNair added a big insurance run in the sixth after reaching second on an error in right.
Liz McCaffery drove her in with two outs to make it 7-5. The Profs looked to add to the lead in the seventh, loading the bases with one out, but the Falcons turned a liner to the first baseman into a double play.
A one-out single in the bottom of the seventh put the tying run at the plate. McCutcheon induced a fly out and got Bryant charging in on a tapper to third for the final out.
Caiti Mickle was 2-for-4 with a two-run double for Pfieffer.
