MARIETTA, OHIO – Pfeiffer forced a winner-take-all game 7 in the Marietta NCAA Softball Regional as the #20 Rowan fell to the Falcons, 6-3, on Saturday.
The two teams meet again with the winner advancing to the super regional round.
Rowan was limited to two hits through six innings, but found some life in the seventh with two outs, plating three runs.
An RBI single in the third followed by a bases-loaded walk and an sac fly for two runs in the fourth put the Profs in a 3-0 deficit.
Rowan got two on in the bottom of the fourth but a fielder's choice at second ended the inning.
The Falcons added to the lead in the seventh with a three-run home run.
With two on and two outs in the bottom of the seventh,
Payton MacNair doubled in
Abigail Pawlowski and then
Breanna Bryant drove in
Grace Shukaitis and MacNair to cut the score to 6-3. After a pitching change,
Liz McCaffery lined a sharp one to center but the third out was recorded on a diving stab by the centerfielder.
Rylee Lutz suffered the loss, throwing into the fourth inning.
