IMMACULATA, PA –
Tyler Cannon had three hits and four RBI, and
Phil Sedalis added three hits, as #21 Rowan held off Immaculata, 9-5, in non-conference baseball action. The Profs improve to 25-10 in their final non-league game of the season.
Cannon had two doubles and
Jason Morgan drove in two runs in the victory, while
Brian Gallante scored twice and posted two RBI. Reliever
Sean Colbert (3-1) earned the win with an inning in relief of starter
Braden Waller, who went 4.0 innings, striking out three.
Rowan held a 9-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh, where Immaculata began its rally by scoring three. The home team then threatened by loading the bases in the bottom of the eighth, before
Mike Shannon took the mound for the Profs. Despite Immaculata (21-9) scoring two runs, Shannon was able to get the final two outs, with a strikeout and fielder's choice.
The Profs took a 4-0 lead in the second opening up with consecutive singles from
Dylan Maria and
Ryan Murphy. After
Jason Morgan reached on an error that allowed Maria to score, Gallante grounded out with Murphy crossing the plate.
Chris Serrano reached base with a single and brought home Morgan while Cannon doubled to allow Serrano to score.
Anthony Schooley led off the third with a walk and scored on Murphy's ground out, to put Rowan up by 5-0, and increased the lead to 6-0 in the fourth when Gallante walked and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly from Cannon.
The Profs picked up three insurance runs in the seventh inning thanks to singles by Morgan,
Pat Defeciani and Gallante (one RBI), before Cannon hit a two-run double to give them a 9-0 lead.
Rowan closes out NJAC play starting with a single game at Stockton on Thursday, and then will host the Ospreys on Saturday before traveling to Kean for a Saturday doubleheader.
