Sedalis' Two Home Runs Help #17 Baseball Over TCNJ, 8-3

Profs slug four home runs as Maria and Murphy each add one

GLASSBORO, NJ – Phil Sedalis had two home runs, and Dylan Maria and Ryan Murphy each added one, as #17 Rowan scored an 8-3 win over TCNJ in NJAC baseball action today. It completes a series sweep of the Lions by the Profs in the past two days, as they improve to 20-7, and 6-2 in the conference.

Sedalis was 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI, and with one triple, tied the single-season record for triples in a season with six, last achieved by Dillon Mendel in 2018. Anthony Schooley was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Tyler Cannon drove in two runs.

Starter Jason O'Neill earned the victory and combined with Mike Shannon to limit the Lions, while combining for eight strikeouts.

Cannon put Rowan on the board in the second inning with a two-run double down the third base line. Phil Sedalis closed out the four-run inning with a two-run home run that scored Cannon.

Sedalis led off the fifth with a triple and then scored on Schooley's single to left field, giving Rowan a 5-2 lead.

Maria followed by hitting his 11th home run of the year, a blast over the left field fence to increase the Profs' lead to 6-2.

TCNJ (12-17; 3-5) had taken the early 1-0 lead in the first with a double from Chris Reeder and a single by Andrew Fernandez. After the Profs took a 4-1 lead, the Lions got one back in the third on a sacrifice fly from Fernandez.

Sedalis clocked his second home run of the game, and fifth of the year, in the seventh as he sent a pitch by Drew Lukomski-LaPrince over the fence in left center. Murphy then connected on a solo home run to center field, his third of the season to give the Profs an 8-2 lead.

The Lions added one more run in the eighth on an RBI single from Zach Hochheiser.

The Profs head north to Ramapo for an NJAC doubleheader on Saturday (weather permitting), beginning at 11:30 a.m.
