#18 Softball Concludes Week With a Split; Goes 11-1 Overall on Florida Trip

CLERMONT, FL -- #18 Rowan concluded its trip to Florida with an 11-1 record after splitting its final two games on Friday. The Profs took care of Mount Saint Mary, 8-1, but fell to Ohio Wesleyan, 5-3.

In the first game of the day, Rowan pounded out 13 hits while four players had two RBI's each. Starter Rylee Lutz gave up one run on four hits with three K's and two walks to earn the win.

Abigail Pawlowski went 3-for-4 while Payton MacNair, Korie Hague, and Breanna Bryant all had two hits apiece.

Leading 1-0 after the first, the Profs plated five runs on six hits highlighted by two-run singles from Devyn DiPasquale and MacNair in the frame.

The Knights got on the board in the fourth with an RBI single, but Rowan responded with two more in the bottom half thanks to Pawlowski's two-run base hit.

Against Ohio Wesleyan, the Profs looked to rally from a 5-0 first-inning deficit but had a potential rally end in the seventh.

MacNair was 3-for-4 with an RBI while McCaffery's big two-out two-run triple highlighted a three-run fifth. Gabbie Fonollosa added a career-best two hits with her first double as well.

With one out and trailing by two in the seventh, Rowan loaded the bases with one out. McCaffery hit a low liner that looked like it would get through into left field, but Ohio Wesleyan shortstop Rylee Anspach made an impressive diving stab and was able to double off the runner at third for a game-ending double play.

The team will head home and return to action on Wednesday when Rosemont visits for two in the home opener starting at 2 p.m.
