GLASSBORO, NJ –
Sidney Pavlishin scored two goals and
Mariah Juiliano notched the shutout to help #16 Rowan to a 5-0 win over Hartwick in the First Round of the 2023 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship at Coach Wackar Stadium. The Profs advance to the Second Round at Babson College on Saturday at 2 p.m., to meet the winner of the Tufts vs. Southern Maine game, which will be played later today.

Vanessa DiDonato chipped in with a goal and two assists, with
Julia Cavicchio and
Cienna Bosher also adding scores for Rowan (12-7), which has won four in a row, while outscoring its opponents, 20-0, in the last four games.
Juiliano made two saves on the day to post her fourth consecutive shutout in her seventh game as a starter.
Rowan's first goal was set up when DiDonato took the initial shot, and after Hartwick goalie Ashley Luppens made the save, Pavlishin was right there to tap in the rebound at 6:57 of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Profs had seven corners, but DiDonato gave the Profs a 2-0 lead when she carried the ball into the circle and beat Luppens one-on-one at 3:07. It marks her 18th goal of the year, which is a career-high.
Rowan scored early in the third quarter as Cavicchio took a centering pass from DiDonato and put it in the cage with one touch to give Rowan a three-goal lead. Bosher deflected one in at 44:13, after DiDonato took the initial shot on a penalty corner to run the Profs' lead up to 4-0.
Pavlishin closed out the scoring with her ninth goal of the year, as
Kaylee Wenzel was on the end line and sent a short pass to the sophomore, who was waiting in front of the goal. It was the second multiple-goal game of the year for Pavlishin.
Rowan outshot Hartwick (12-6) by a 15-10 margin, although the Hawks had a 16-15 advantage in corners. Luppens was called on to make eight saves for the visitors.
Rowan, the NJAC champion, is in the midst of its fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship.
