#11 Women's Soccer Suffers 2-0 Defeat to #15 TCNJ in NJAC Championship Game

2023 NJAC Championship

GLASSBORO, NJ -- #11 Rowan fell to #15 TCNJ in the NJAC Championship, 2-0, Friday evening as the Profs suffered its first loss of the season (14-1-2). It was the fifth meeting in the conference title game between the two schools.

The Lions' Emma Pascarella assisted on the first TCNJ goal and added a late tally to give the visitors its 20th conference title. The Profs were looking for a repeat from last year as Rowan vied for its fifth championship in program history.

Goalie Calista Burke made a career-high 10 saves on the night with TCNJ's Bella Norman recording two.

Pascarella set up Victora D'Imperio with a header goal in the 17th minute to give TCNJ the 1-0 lead. The Profs totaled just two shots in the first 45 minutes, but held steady and trailed by a goal at the half.

The Profs had two good looks in the 75th minute as a tough angle shot just inside the box from Mackenzie Clement was turned away at close range by Norman with the rebound coming to Olivia Giordano, but her attempt went wide. With time winding down, Rowan pressed offensively trying for the equalizer. Pascarella took advantage of the open space in the Prof zone where she snuck one by Burke with four seconds to account for the final score.

Rowan, who has played in the NCAA Tournament 15 times, will find out if it has a 16th appearance when the NCAA Women's Soccer Selection Show takes place on Monday at 1:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
