GLASSBORO, NJ –
Sergio Sola Garcia tallied the game's lone goal to lead second-seeded Rowan to a 1-0 win over third-seeded Kean in the semifinals of the 2023 NJAC Men's Soccer Championship. The Profs (9-3-5) move on to the conference championship on Saturday at 7 p.m. at top-seeded Montclair State.
Freshman
Charlie Scanlon made the first start of his career in goal, replacing the injured
Dylan Aportela, and recorded the shutout. Scanlon made two saves on the evening, as Rowan outshot the #21 Cougars, 13-5.
Sola Garcia netted the goal in the 54
th minute when he headed in a free kick from
Luke Yates. It marked the first gamewinner for the graduate student, who is in his first year with the Profs.
The Profs played with a two-man advantage in the final 12 minutes as Kean (11-2-6) received two red cards.
The play was even in the first half and Kean's goalkeeper Dominic Ridge kept it scoreless when he stopped a penalty kick by Rowan's leading scorer

Saturday's NJAC Final will be a rematch of last year's which saw Rowan defeat Montclair State, 3-0 on the road, to capture its first conference championship since 2003.
